My 1934 Coldspot Refrigerator died in January during the coldest week in years. It was a feat of American Industrial Engineering, designed for Sears by Raymond Loewy. He also designed the Studebaker, the Lucky Strike Cigarette Logo and tons of other very cool things.
It's lived in Wildflower Cottage since probably the early 1950's when electricity finally made it to East Mountain. We replaced the compressor a few years ago and my husband has faithfully kept the motor oiled and running. He's certain it can be repaired. We are not going to keep it; we have enough to maintain as it is. If anyone out there is interested, please send an email: jan@wildflowercottages.com
It's been replaced with a refrigerator that might last a few years. We'll see.
