It was a feat of American Industrial Engineering, designed for Sears by <a href="http://www.raymondloewy.com/">Raymond Loewy</a>. He also designed the Studebaker, the Lucky Strike Cigarette Logo and tons of other very cool things.<br /><br />It's lived in <a href="http://wildflowercottages.com/">Wildflower Cottage</a> since probably the early 1950's when electricity finally made it to East Mountain. We replaced the compressor a few years ago and my husband has faithfully kept the motor oiled and running. He's certain it can be repaired. We are not going to keep it; we have enough to maintain as it is. Here they are early today with 8 inches of snow. The sun just came out and it will start melting soon.
